Training and Prevention Captain (Full-Time)
INTENT OF POSITION:
It is the intent of the Plains-Paradise Rural Fire District to hire a full-time Training and Prevention Captain. The Training and Fire Prevention Captain serves as a key leadership position responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive training programs and fire prevention initiatives for the District. This position ensures personnel acquire and maintain qualifications, stay current with evolving firefighting techniques, and actively engage with the community to reduce fire risks through fuel mitigation projects and education. The role requires a balance of administrative duties, hands-on training delivery, project management, crew supervision, and community outreach suitable for our rural Montana community.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Training
Design training experiences that build confident, capable Firefighters and Company Officers ready to excel in real life fire suppression and rescue response
Prevention
Develop, train, and lead crew members through daily mentorship while maintaining operational standards and building team cohesion while providing excellent community service
Fire Assignments
Deploy on wildfire assignments as an ENGB or FFT1
General Duties
Respond to regular calls for service and mutual aid while on duty
